Fendi Handbags
Introduction
Founded over 70 years ago, the Italian fashion house of Fendi has been creating some of the most sought-after handbags for years. In its earlier days, the luxury brand was known for its classic, long-lasting styles, made from the finest Italian leather. Their handbag collections were introduced only twice a year back then, which lent an exclusive appeal to its clientele, who in those days, were limited to a select few. But since the advent of style-setting television shows like ‘Sex in the City”, the Fendi handbag has become a household name and its popularity has grown enormously.
Taking this in stride, Fendi’s Karl Lagerfeld, the fan-toting fashion icon of the design world, took on the task of creating a modern new look for Fendi’s fans, successfully bringing forth stunning new products every month. Not just confined to their signature leather goods, Fendi handbags today are found in a luscious variety of styles and materials which include innovative designs with straw, silk and canvas. From satchels and evening purses to the Baguette and the latest “It” bag, the Fendi Spy, fashionistas all over the world know that for every season, there is a Fendi handbag to lust for.
New Tends
Literally “in tune” with the latest trends, Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion powerhouse and iPod fanatic behind the prominent “Double F” logo, recently unveiled the supreme accessory for the well-heeled techie - Fendi's Juke Box. Custom designed for multiple iPods, this $1,500 carrying case comes as a stunning gilded purse, lined with colorful fabric, which also fits in a nifty hole for the iPod’s earphones. Making its debut at Fendi’s Milan show, this de rigueur tech accessory is yet to be available in Fendi’s New York and Los Angeles boutiques, where the waiting list for the Juke Box is said to be getting longer by the day.
To celebrate Fendi’s 80th anniversary, second-generation Fendi Silvia Venturini, has also come up with another eye-catching collection previewed in Milan recently. Inspired by 16th century Italian artist Caravaggio, the limited edition line showcases the style of the Renaissance master with a modern edge– his lush palette of colors and use of chiaroscuro ( the effects of light and shade in works of art) cleverly incorporated in Fendi’s leather goods and clothing patterns. From this collection is the perfect bag for the “Metrosexual” male, a lightweight travel bag with a delicate hand-painted rendition of one of Caravaggio’s paintings emblazoned on it.
